Dryer Vent Installation in San Jose, CA

Why dryer vent installation goes wrong in San Jose homes
Most bad vents here were never designed. The laundry moved, and the duct followed. Remodels push washers into interior closets and upstairs rooms far from any wall. So installers add elbows. Each elbow eats equivalent length. Then they keep the old foil flex and drive sheet metal screws through it, which catch lint like a comb. Towels needing two cycles usually trace back to that.
A proper install is rigid galvanized, four inch, male ends pointing downstream. Joints get foil tape and clamps, never screws. Vinyl and foil transition duct still in service in pre-1980 homes gets replaced with rigid or UL-listed semi-rigid metal. Short exterior-wall garage runs of 3–8 ft are the easy case. The bird-screened hood on them mats lint behind the screen, so hood choice matters in the design, not as an afterthought.
The hard routes are specific. Second-floor laundry venting up to a roof jack with 20–35 ft of duct. 1920s–40s bungalows dropping through the floor and out a crawlspace rim. Eichler and flat-roof mid-century homes with no attic, where the run hides in a soffit or crosses a post-and-beam wall. Condo closets with 2–4 elbows into a shared chase.
Rodent and bird nesting in roof jacks is common in foothill and orchard-edge neighborhoods. Plan for inspection access.

What happens after you call us
- 1
Call and tell us your dryer setup, roof vent or sidewall, single-story or second-floor laundry. We give you a two-hour arrival window and text when we are on the way.
- 2
We walk the run from the dryer to the outside hood, measure it, and quote a flat price at your door. Nothing gets opened until you say go.
- 3
We brush and vacuum the full line, reconnect the transition hose, run a dry cycle to check airflow, and sweep the lint. You pay the quoted number, not a dollar more.
